Dawn regularly teaches Oil Painting thru Outreach, and is the Options art instructor for area home school students. Dawn is thrilled to be back for her regular students and meet new artists! Tell your friends and gather together. There is one $100 scholarship available for an area high school student*.
Beginners, intermediate and advanced painters are welcome. This class will be loose, fun, and colorful. One class will include a live, dressed model. Classes will include demonstrations; painting together in steps; discussion of set-up, drawing/composition, mixing colors and values of colors. Participants will paint from photos; please bring a selection of images to the first class.
High School Scholarship:
Outreach is pleased to offer one $100 scholarship to help offset the fee for this class. This scholarship is dependent on getting the minimum number of regularly paying participants. Students or parents who would otherwise not be able to take this class, please contact Karen McPherson, Outreach Coordinator, to claim this scholarship and register:
There is a $40 supply cost for this class. Students will be provided with access to the following:
Canvas/boards: a variety of sizes (9X12, 12X12, 12X16, 10x20 and your choice for your final piece).
Brushes: Flat 4, 8, 10 and one liner for signing your name.
Medium: Gamblin's "Gamsol" 100% pure odorless mineral spirits (OMS) and container to hold medium.
Weber Resin Gel or similar variety is fine.

3. Cerulean Blue
4. Alizarin Crimson
5. Cadmium Red Light/or Cadmium Red
6. Cadmium Yellow Medium
8. Transparent Red Oxide or Burnt Siena
Extra's: Latex Free Gloves, Viva Paper Towels, Palette or Palette Paper.

*Total Fees for this class have increased to be more in line with actual costs and similar classes offered in the region.
Dawn captures mood and emotion with vibrant, bold strokes of her brushes and palette knife. Her work can be described as "Expressionistic/Colorist". She generally works in oil paints in the Plein Air style, but is also comfortable in acrylics. Her work reflects her interest in light, beauty, and the rich colors of Colorado, Europe, Mexico and the Southwest.
